🌿 March Campaign: Strengthening Maternal Mental Health in Harris County
The Crisis in Our Backyard
In Harris County, the barriers to mental health care extend beyond cost. For many mothers, the challenge is childcare, transportation, long waitlists, and stigma.
Untreated maternal mental health conditions cost our city an estimated $15 million annually. But the financial cost does not compare to the emotional toll carried by families and children when a mother struggles alone.
At Houston Birthing Connection, we believe healing a mother strengthens an entire family.
🎯 Our March Goal
Our March fundraising goal is $20,000 to launch Mindful Moms — a specialized maternal mental health initiative designed to provide:
-
200 individual therapy sessions
-
Bi-weekly peer support groups
-
Childcare and transportation assistance
-
Prevention and education resources for families

How Your Support Makes an Impact
$60
supports one private therapy session for a mother in crisis
$250
helps cover childcare and refreshments for a monthly support group
$500
supports Mental Health First Aid training for HBC team members
$1,200
sponsors a full 20-session therapy plan for a parent in need

🌿 Why This Matters Now
Maternal mental health conditions affect families quietly. Without accessible care, small struggles can become long-term challenges for children and parents alike.
By investing in prevention, therapy, and community support, we can strengthen families today and protect the well-being of the next generation.
Real Support. Real Families. Real Impact.
Houston Birthing Connection helps teen parents stay in school and complete their education despite the challenges of pregnancy and early parenthood.
Through case management, life-skills coaching, and stability support, we remove barriers that often cause young parents to drop out — helping them graduate, gain confidence, and build a stable future for themselves and their children.
